How to hold political conversations as a Christian

In this workshop, Jenny will take us through a topic that has been dominating conversations, particularly now, in the lead up to the UK general elections; and will continue to for a while afterwards as we learn to live with change (or no change). Conversations about politics are important, and it is important to encourage and hold conversations where two parties could have deep differences in opinion. What we say as Christians to other individuals, Christians or not, should be obvious as a reflection of Christ’s character in the manifestation of the fruits of the Holy Spirit.
Join us in learning from Jenny on how to hold political conversations and how to practically implement conversation tactics when facing polar opinions on a topic.

Dr Jenny Leith
Jenny is Lecturer in Christian Ethics at Westcott House, teaching on the Durham and Cambridge programmes. Her research interests bring together negative theology, political theory, and ecclesiology. She has a particular interest in the question of how Christian ethical and political formation can and should take place.
She is the author of Political Formation: Being Formed by the Spirit in Church and World (SCM Press, 2023). This research grew out of several years spent working as a parliamentary researcher and in social policy.
